Set Engines to Minimum Entropy
A long time ago, as an exercise I did an unassuming arrangement of the theme muzak from Starbase 66, the International Starlost and Specular Highlights podcast. In the great tradition of me backing over things to make sure they’re dead, I did it again and again.
At one point one of the hosts of Starbase 66 sent me a cease and desist letter figured the best way to shut me up was to incorporate “Theme from the Waxbase” into their intro music. (They asked me, I didn’t force it on them)
Several months worth of hate mail later, the hosts contacted me again. “They canna take any more”, they said. “Please do something to wash away the taste of that Waxbase buildup”. Since I’m always up for a challenge a sucker, I agreed.
When I sent the first draft to the Starbase, at 42 minutes long they deemed it a little overambitious for the introduction for a show heard by millions of listeners. A lot of hacking and slashing with the razor blade on my state of the art tape editing setup, they eventually gave up agreed to it.

First off, here’s the full version, at nine minutes, thirty nine seconds.
Here’s one that almost fits in the back of a Volkswagon:
Waxbase 2011 (Schwarzschild Radius)
and finally, the one that seems to have ended up on the show itself (well, episode 85, at least), god have mercy on our Sole.
Snaxbase 2011 (Schwarzschild Radius)
Coda: Before you send me your hate mail, remember I have no association with Starbase 66 other than this, if you don’t like this you’ll have to complain to them, not me.
